How to setup a WordPress blog instantly (in less than 5 minutes)?
Setting up your WordPress blog is now just a click away. Yes, you read it right! With Blue Host you can bid farewell to time consuming procedures and start your blog with super simple steps. For bloggers who haven’t heard of BlueHost, it is one of the best platforms offering web hosting services. Along with this, it also allows you to create a WordPress blog with just one click by signing up on their website. Let’s learn how.
Go to the BlueHost website and click on “get started now”
Select the payment plan that is suitable to you from the options displayed viz. basic, plus and pro.
Insert the desired domain name and click ‘next’. You can select an alternative domain name from the options displayed to you in case your domain name is unavailable. It is preferable to use the .com extension as it is the most popular one.
Next is to fill in the account information in the required fields. Enter the relevant details and go to the next section.
Scrolling down, you will see a section for ‘package information’. Here, you can select the add ons you want for additional costs. It is highly recommended to include ‘Domain Privacy Protection’ in your package as it keeps your personal details hidden, thus protecting you from unruly marketers.
Also, ‘Site Backup Pro’ can be highly useful to automatically restore lost files in case of a crash and can be availed at an economical cost of USD 1.99 per month.
Next is to enter the billing information. This is needed to make the payment for the web hosting service depending on the type of plan selected.
These plans are not expensive and are worth the investment considering the value of services provided. Choose a suitable payment option and enter the required details.
Once you have successfully registered your details, you will need to create a password. Ideally, your password should be a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters. Make it stronger by entering at least 8 characters. Just click on the ‘Create your Password’ link to get directed to the password generator.
Log in to your account with the domain name and password generated.
You will be presented with the dashboard on successful log in. Click on ‘Hosting’ and click on ‘cPanel’ under that. Scroll down a little, and you will see a header titled ‘Site Builders’. Here you will see the WordPress icon. Click on that.
You will be redirected to a page displaying a ‘Script List’ having various categories. Click on the WordPress icon again under the ‘Blogs’ category.
You will be redirected to another page where you have to click ‘Install’
Now you would need to make appropriate WordPress settings. There will be 4 steps displayed to you.
- Step 1- If you have a new website and domain, install WordPress in your root directory. This can be done by leaving the space appearing after the slash following your domain name blank.
- Step 2- Fill in a suitable title for your site
- Step 3- Choose from plugins and themes provided. It is preferable to skip this as you don’t need them.
- Step 4- Check the clause regarding legal terms and conditions and click ‘Complete’.
BlueHost will then display a message saying that the Directory exists and if you want to overwrite its contents. Again, if your website is brand new then check the option that says ‘Directory exists! I understand that continuing will overwrite files’. Ensure to uncheck any plugins and themes again.
You will be redirected to a page that shows the progress of the WordPress installation on your website.
You WordPress blog is now created. Just enter you domain in the URL to see your new WordPress blog.
